Self-Education of Systems Librarians

Thought some /u/l/i readers would be interested in a paper I just published in Library Hi Tech (made available publicly thanks to Emerald's very fair copyright policy). In it, I say that /u/l/i is the best place to keep up on stuff worth keeping up on... the paper's at http://www.lib.sfu.ca/~mjordan/presentations/misc/self-education-systems-librarians.pdf. [editor's note, by jaf] Moved to MLP

Jeremy and I talked at one point about posting something to the Web4Lib list on Roy's suggestion. Maybe we should draft something here? I haven't managed to post recently but it would give me an excuse to clean up my mail hosts. Great article by the way, I really enjoyed it.

Why do people still post links to PDF's (none / 0) (#2)

I hate to rereference Jakob Nielsen but I think he's right this time. PDFs Unfit for Human Consumption.

I know it was probably just easy to link to the pdf but it presents the user with an unusable document. In today's world if you want people to print you document add a stylesheet for print media. Linking to a pdf is kind of like posting html to a news group, it's just not good etiquette. It is something that I would not expect happening here.
