Okay, so this has nothing to do with libraries... Kylie, my second daughter, was born Sept. 23rd, just over two weeks early (that part she gets from her mom). Hooray for mom and baby!

The baby is healthy, 6 lbs. 9 oz., and 20 inches long. Her mom is also doing well. Kylie is gaining weight now (babies lose at first) and making up for the fact that she came out early (babies usually spend the last couple weeks inside getting plump).

I'm once again experiencing that calm that comes from holding your sleeping baby on your chest. Aaaaah... I love it. Caitlin, Kylie's sister, is doing great (wants to hold, touch, kiss the baby... watch the baby get changed, etc.) Kylie is sleeping, eating, and filling diapers (not much more to report than that for now). We are in baby bliss...

Today is my first day back at work (though I will take some more time off once Christy's mom leaves) so I'm wading through the over 500 email messages (the birth caught me by surprise so I did not get a chance to suspend my mailing list subscriptions). By the way, don't believe the rumor that second births are shorter than the first. This one went from 4 in the morning until 6:50pm... again, hooray for Christy! Her endurance is just amazing.

Our first is due October 23rd, which is close enough to make us impatient. Eryn would be VERY happy if she was two weeks early at this point as she's now pretty uncomfortable.

Congratulations Kevin!

My kids are way past the baby stage but the early years are a time of joy and wonder. You get a bit of that when they start to edge into the teenage years as well so you have lots to look forward to. Between you and Todd, there should be no shortage of systems folk years from now!
