Most libraries use barcodes to link books to records. Have you ever wanted to generate them yourself? RenderX XEP has released XSLT stylesheets that will take string input and generate a valid barcode in SVG (which can be turned into PDF for printing or displayed in a browser with SVG support).

More info and the stylesheets can be found on the RenderX site. Supported barcode formats are included in the extended copy.

Code 2 of 5 Interleaved
Code 3 of 9
Codabar
Code 128
UPC/EAN
Australia Post 4-State Barcode
