Hi all. I'm personally grateful for your contributions here at /u/l/i and, of course, to our broader library and world communities. This site, and our jobs, just wouldn't be so interesting without you sharing news of new developments in your shop.

That said, this is a community journal, not a newswire. We are here to get to know each other, and form relationships. While I've been lucky to meet a few of you over the years, I feel like I and others here at /u/l/i might be missing out on knowing who's behind these various projects and press releases you've posted anonymously here with increasing regularity.

So I'd like to ask you to consider that in the future it would be a lot more interesting if you signed in to post these, with a name or at least a handle, rather than posting anonymously. Your organization would come off looking rather less like the Borg it can sometimes appear to be, and it would give the rest of us a chance to connect more directly with you as individuals here, in public, like we do with each other around comments for other posts and such.

This is just my opinion, and I'm only one person here, so don't take this as some kind of site policy, just a friendly request. Can you imagine how much less interesting this site would be if other major library vendors and organizations started posting similar press releases anonymously?

Thanks for your consideration, -dchud
